Dedication

I've discovered that the hardest part in starting a blog is naming it. Everyone seems to try and come up with witty phrases or sayings to make their blog stand out. The pressure on the blogger is enormous. And so I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to think of a suitable blog name that captures my wit and creativity to rival the best of titles. After much head scratching, soul searching, quote browsing, etc., I finally concluded that I could not do it. I realized my problem was that I was trying to match this "expected" level of originality, rather then discovering what described me and what reflected something personal that I found interesting. And so I turned to my inspiration for writing.

I want to dedicate this blog to J.R.R. Tolkien and his novel, The Lord of the Rings. His work first revealed to me the beauty and wonder that writing can create and inspire. I dream of being able to write something that is as good as a tenth, if not a hundredth, of one chapter from his works.

I also dedicate this blog to my parents, who always encouraged me to pursue writing, in whatever form or mood it struck me.
